New Comparison Study Shows Patients Over the Age of 60 Are 3-5 Times More Likely to Choose Vidatak's Communication Products

This study evaluated a variety of communication tools and determined Vidatak’s products had better overall acceptance scores amongst older patients, with an avergae age of 71 years old!  When patients were given the option to choose which communication tool they preferred to use, patients were 3-5 times more likely to choose Vidatak’s Picture Board, VidaTalk application and the EZ Board over other communication products, in that order.

The only evidenced based board developed by a hospital chaplain who wanted to better understand and serve mechanically ventilated patients. It allows non-vocal patients to indicate spiritual preferences, needs, and feelings, all of which might otherwise go unattended. In a clinical study published in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society, patients used the Spiritual Care Board reported decreased stress and anxiety, and no harm. Vidatak launches iPad app VidaTalk with funding support from the National Institutes of Health

Nonvocal patients can now access Vidatak’s interactive, multi-lingual communication tool on their personal iPad or iPad provided by the hospital caring for them. The technology is an NIH funded, research-based, Augmentive and Alternative Communication solution designed for the iPad.

Vidatak partners with Italian hospitals to improve patient communications

Through a partnership between the Community of Milano, Italy governance and Centro Benedetta D'Inino (CBD'I) of Milano, John Costello of Children's Hospital Boston was invited to do a full day workshop for medical staff and administrators representing hospitals throughout Italy entitled:

Augmentative Communication and the Communication Vulnerable Patient: Enhancing Quality of Care and Reducing Risks of Medical Error

To support every hospital in Italy to better meet the needs of patients who are communication vulnerable, CBD'I provided the Vidatak Picture Communication Board to every delegate of the workshop. In addition, Vidatak Picture Communication Boards with Italian text were directly forwarded to hospitals unable to send delegates.
